About IPEDS
The Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System, referred to as IPEDS, is the core postsecondary education data collection program for the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). IPEDS is a system of interrelated surveys conducted annually by NCES to gather information from every college, university, and technical and vocational institution that participates in federal student financial aid programs. The Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended, requires that institutions that participate in federal student aid programs report data on enrollments, program completions, graduation rates, faculty and staff, finances, institutional prices, and student financial aid. For more information, please visit the general information portion of the IPEDS website.
Information reported to IPEDS is available on the IPEDS website, typically one to two years after submission. Data can be accessed through the “Use the Data” portion of the IPEDS website; recommended tools include “Look Up an Institution” and “Data Feedback Report”. Some IPEDS data is also available through ACC’s Institutional Research website in the Student Performance section. For the most current institutional information, please view ACC’s self-reported data publications on the Office of Institutional Research’s section of this page under the General ACC Information section.

5 Year Retention Data from CDHE, 2014-2018
About SURDS
Developed by the Colorado Commission on Higher Education (CCHE), the Student Unit Record Data System, or “SURDS”, is a collection of data submitted by Colorado institutions; this information includes Enrollment, Undergraduate Applicant, Degrees Awarded, Financial Aid, Remediation, Teacher Education and Verification of Lawful Presence. Throughout each year, the aforementioned data are submitted to the Colorado Department of Higher Education (CDHE) via ‘SURDS files’, which are utilized in a variety of ways. To learn more about CCHE, CDHE, and/ or SURDS visit the general information portion of the CDHE website.
Much of the data collected from SURDS files can be found on the CDHE website under the “Data & Research” section. Although published data and reports are available, the database can also be searched to obtain specific information at the institutional and/or aggregate level. Some SURDS data is also available through ACC’s Institutional Research website in the Student Performance section. For the most current institutional information, feel free to view ACC’s self-reported data publications on the Office of Institutional Research’s section of this webpage under the General ACC Information section.
