Accreditation
Arapahoe Community College is currently accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). ACC has been accredited since 1970.
Why is Accreditation Important?
College accreditation is a guarantee that a college or program meets certain principles and provides quality education.
- It gives the assurance that you will be able to attain definite educational outcomes.
- It pledges that you'll get qualified instructors and high quality, up-to-date curriculum.
- It allows a school eligibility to participate in government student assistance programs like federal grants and loans.
- It helps ensure your tuition will be reimbursed by your employer if they offer tuition assistance.
- It can help with employment. Most employers will look at a degree from an institution with accreditation as a credential demonstrating motivation and quality education.
- It will allow you to transfer credits to another college or university.

ACC Online Accreditation
Arapahoe Community College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). The Higher Learning Commission is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. This federally-recognized body assures students, parents and all stakeholders that ACC meets clear quality standards for educational and financial performance.
In addition to ACC's Higher Learning Commission accreditation, some of ACC's academic programs carry specialized accreditation specific to the field.
State Authorization
ACC works through the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA) process to ensure that when authorization for delivering online courses is necessary, required approvals are secured. Colorado is a member of SARA and ACC is an approved SARA institution. Therefore, we adhere to the established standards for offering distance education among the member states, districts, and territories. Participation in SARA is intended to make it easier for students to take online courses offered by postsecondary institutions based in another state and ACC is currently authorized or exempt to approval in all states. Colorado
ACC is authorized by the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education (SBCCOE) to offer its programs to residents of Colorado. Therefore, ACC complies with Colorado regulations concerning postsecondary distance education. See CCCS BP 9-30 - Approval of Academic Programs.
