ACC has 3 semesters - Summer, Fall and Spring - and students may start attending classes beginning any semester. Semester registration typically opens in the following timeframes:
- Summer – Second Monday in March
- Fall - Second Monday in March
- Spring – Last Monday in October
Review the Academic Calendar for the semester's important dates and deadlines. View your course census and withdraw dates on your Detailed Student Schedule (in myACC).
Adding a Course
We advise you to register before the first day of class, however you may register in a course through the registration deadline or course census date, whichever comes first. Register online via myACC and/or Navigate360. Courses in certain programs and modalities may have different registration dates, but general registration deadlines are:
- Colorado Online Courses (Z-sections): Web registration ends 2 days after the course start date; no late registration permitted.
- ACC Online Courses (200-sections): Web registration ends after the first week for 15-week courses (less for accelerated courses). After web registration ends, you may only register using the Schedule Adjustment Form process.
- ACC Courses (classroom/hybrid/etc.): Web registration ends after the first week for 15-week courses (less for accelerated courses). After web registration ends, you may only register using the Schedule Adjustment Form process.
No registration is permitted after the census date, regardless of prior course attendance or drop reason. You must complete all course section changes by the course census date.
Schedule Adjustment Form
Once web registration ends, you may register using the Schedule Adjustment Form process prior to the course census date, excluding Colorado Online Courses. Registration using the Schedule Adjustment Form process is a 2-step process – one from the faculty / instructor and one from the student. The process is:
Step 1: Faculty/Instructor Process
- Faculty / Instructor confirms student meets course prerequisites / co-requisites and will meet the attendance requirement.
- Faculty / Instructor completes the Schedule Adjustment Form using ACC student email; form sent to student email listed on the form.
Step 2: Student Process
- Student receives the Schedule Adjustment Form to ACC student email (as entered on the Form).
- Student ensures the information is correct and complete prior to forwarding the Form to records [at] arapahoe [dot] edu.
- Forward the emailed Schedule Adjustment Form (from ACC student email) to records [at] arapahoe [dot] edu by 5pm on the course census date.
- Forms received after 5pm on the course census date will not be processed.
The completed Schedule Adjustment must be submitted to the Records & Enrollment Services Office by 5pm on the course census date.
An incomplete Schedule Adjustment will not be accepted; it must contain student information, faculty signature, and course information.
Course Prerequisites
You must meet a course prerequisite before registering in a course. View the ACC course catalog for course prerequisite requirements. If you took the prerequisite course at another institution, you will need to provide an unofficial transcript to the Records and Enrollment Services Office showing the prerequisite course completed with a C or better. Upload an unofficial transcript through the Unofficial Transcript Submission Form for review.
Course Restrictions
Some courses require special permission from the department chair or acceptance into a selective admission program. If a course has department approval required as a registration restriction, the department chair must enter approval prior to student registration. If a course has a program / major as a registration restriction, the selective admission major must reflect that program (in Degree Check) prior to student registration. Students registering in special permission courses must meet all registration deadlines.
Waitlist Courses
Most ACC courses do not have waitlists; however a few select high-demand courses do have them. If a course is full and has a waitlist, there will be an option for you to add to the waitlist. If a spot opens in the course, you will receive registration email (to ACC student email) with 48 hours to register. You can register directly in myACC under Registration Tools. If you do not register in course, you will be dropped from waitlist and registration email goes to next student on the list.
Dropping a Course
It is your responsibility, as an ACC student, to drop a course by the census date. The census date is the last day you may drop a course with a refund. You will find the course census date on the Detailed Student Schedule (in myACC). When you drop a course, the course is not on your academic record.
If you drop a course that is a prerequisite or co-requisite of another registered course(s), you must drop all related courses. If you receive financial aid or Veteran’s benefits, consult the Financial Aid Office or Veteran’s Affairs Office prior to dropping a course. Dropping a course(s) that results in reduced credit hours could have a negative effect on your financial aid or Veteran’s benefits.
You cannot drop a course after the census date. If you have extenuating circumstances for not being able to drop a course by the census date, you may complete a Tuition Credit Appeal.
Attendance Requirement
ACC conducts a drop for no show throughout each semester. If you do not attend any class sessions by the course census (add/drop date) and are identified as a no show by the faculty, you will be dropped from the course. Once dropped as a no show, you cannot re-register in that same section, regardless of no-show reason. Being dropped as a no-show can have negative consequences for you if you are using financial aid or Veteran’s benefits.
For online courses, attendance is defined as accessing the course and completing at least one academic activity (as determined by the individual faculty).
Withdrawing from a Course
It is your responsibility, as an ACC student, to withdraw from a course by the withdraw date. The withdraw date, is the last day you may withdraw from a course. When you withdraw from a course, you will receive a W grade on the transcript, however the W grade does not factor into the your GPA. You will find the course withdraw date on the Detailed Student Schedule (in myACC). If you do not officially withdraw from a course by the withdraw deadline, you will be graded by the faculty.
You cannot withdraw from a course after the withdraw date. If you have extenuating circumstances for not being able to withdraw from a course by the withdraw date, you may complete an Administrative Withdrawal Petition.
