ACC Music Debuts Chromatic Resonance

Arapahoe Community College (ACC) Music is proud to announce the release of its second full-length album, Chromatic Resonance, available Sept. 26, exclusively on all major streaming platforms.

The 15-track collection highlights the creativity and versatility of ACC’s music students and instructors, spanning classic rock, R&B, bossa nova, and jazz. Four original works composed by ACC students - Brittle Bones (McKey McNally), WM (Westin Maymir), Runaway (Elijah Likens), and My Anxiety Creep (Hudson Meier) - stand alongside genre-defining classics and modern favorites.

“This project reflects the remarkable talent and collaboration within our program,” said Charles Haarhues, album producer and former CTE Music Program Chair and Music Audio Technology faculty. “Our students are not only performing celebrated repertoire but also contributing original music that showcases their artistic voice.”

Highlights include:

  • Jazz Ensemble performances of Duke Ellington’s Rent Party Blues, Neil Hefti’s Cute, and Lerner & Loewe’s Almost Like Being in Love.
  • Advanced Pop-Rock Ensemble interpretations of Pat Benatar’s Heartbreaker and Laufey’s From the Start.
  • R&B selections such as Otis Redding’s Dock of the Bay, Bill Withers’ Use Me, and The Meters’ Cissy Strut.
  • Modern jazz features including John Scofield’s A Go Go, Kenny Burrell’s Chitlins con Carne, and a solo piano rendition of Thelonious Monk’s Round Midnight by Matthew Baena.

The album artwork was designed by John Hall’s Multimedia Graphic Design students, continuing a tradition of cross-disciplinary collaboration at ACC. Chromatic Resonance follows the success of ACC Music’s 2023 release titled Ambient Domains, expanding the program’s footprint in recorded music and providing students with hands-on professional experience in performance and production.
