ACC Music Competes at UNC Greeley Jazz Festival

Arapahoe Community College (ACC) had three ensembles compete at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) Greeley Jazz Festival on April 23-25, 2026, including Jazz I (Thursday night band), Jazz II (Saturday morning band), and the Colorado Jazz Ambassadors (through ACC Workforce & Community Programs).

JAZZ I awards:

  • Unanimous Superior
  • 
Best Band of the Room
  • 
Best Band of the Day (perfect score)
  • Roy Dartt - baritone sax and Soloist of the Day (full scholarship to UNC Summer Jazz Camp)
  • Samuel Scheeres - piano
  • Parker Schimenske - trombone

Jazz II awards:

  • Unanimous Superior

  • Best Band of the Room

  • Howard Mendelson - guitar
  • Jonathan Stone - tenor sax

Additionally, the following musicians were awarded outstanding solo awards and received scholarships to UNC Summer Jazz Camp:

  • Tanner Black – trumpet

  • Adrian Brower – alto sax
  • Duncan Clement - tenor sax
  • Roy Dartt - alto sax
  • Luca Dedandes - piano
  • Maya Fu - flute and piano

One of the largest events of its kind in the nation, the UNC Greeley Jazz Festival brings together internationally recognized artists, jazz lovers, award-winning clinicians and over 200 college, high school, and middle school big bands, combos, and jazz vocal groups from across the country. Each year, over 4,000 participants enjoy mainstage concerts, after-hours sessions, non-competitive daytime performances and educational workshops. School groups get valuable feedback on their performance and an individual clinic session with our top-notch lineup of artist-clinicians.
