We're celebrating the work of Niki Dougal and Rhiana Westlund, the inaugural recipients of the McKinnell Scholarship! This award was created to give emerging ceramic artists the time, space, and support to go deeper in their practice. Join us for the Opening Reception on Thursday, April 2 from 5-7pm in Janzen Gallery (AD1010 - Littleton Campus Art & Design Center).
This exhibition showcases the body of work these students built with that support: expanded skills, a growing personal voice, and what becomes possible when artists are given the resources to create with intention.
The scholarship was founded by Nan and Jim McKinnell, longtime champions of ceramics education. Nan, an accomplished ceramic artist and educator herself, established this award alongside Jim to ensure the next generation of artists can pursue their work with ambition and the backing to match.
