Biography
Quill Phillips is the Chief Inclusive Excellence Officer at Arapahoe Community College (ACC). She leads the ACC in professional development focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion and strategic initiatives that embed these concepts into the teaching, services and processes for the College. She formerly served in an inaugural role as the College Equity Officer at the Community College of Aurora (CCA) for five years prior to her start at ACC in June 2020. Phillips was responsible for implementing and overseeing CCA’s Inclusive Excellence (IE) initiatives which consisted of training and development of faculty and staff, recruitment and retention of employees of color, assessment of IE efforts, and policy review and revision. These efforts have contributed to closing the graduation equity gap between African American, Latinx and White students by over 12% in the last five years. These efforts have also influenced hiring more racially diverse employees to reflect the CCA student body by 28% in the last five years.
In addition to her role, Quill serves as a founding member of the Equity and Inclusion Council for the Colorado Community College System, and is also the CEO of QP Equity and Inclusion Consulting, LLC. She has consulted with the Colorado Department of Higher Education on creating an equity toolkit that supports faculty professional development for inclusive teaching and learning across Colorado public colleges and universities. Quill has served as a social justice educator for the last eight years, and is an alumni of the Social Justice Training Institute. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from Colorado State University and has a Master of Arts in Student Affairs Administration from Michigan State University.
