Make WCP Your Ultimate Destination for All Your Summer Care Needs!

Tuesday, March 19, was the first day of spring! After last week’s significant snowfall and this week’s warming temperatures, lawns are greener and flower buds are peeking through. It may be strange to be discussing our summer programming at the start of spring, but finding summer care for children is often one of the most difficult tasks parents face. According to a 2018 poll conducted by The Better Life Lab, parents of kids ages 4-14 string together a variety of resources to provide summer care for their children. Many working parents use vacations or family members as their source of summer care; however, this isn’t an option when family lives far away, and when you can’t justify a 10- to 12-week vacation, which is the amount of time most school-aged kids are out of school. That’s why 26% of parents rely on day camps come summer.

ACC’s Workforce & Community Programs provides week-long summer camps for kids ages 4-14. For the first time, we are offering summer camps for our youngest learners. We have partnered with Amazing Athletes Jump Bunch® to offer active summer camps for preschoolers and kindergartners. This summer, we're offering 5 camps for kids ages 4-6: SuperNinjas Training Camp, Fun in the Sun, Move and Read Camp, The Summer Olympic Games, and Traditional Sports Camp. All of these camps are guaranteed to keep your little ones on their tiny toes.

We continue to offer camps to youth ages 6-14, and have strengthened our partnerships with Black Rocket, Science Matters, Snapology, and Sticky Fingers Cooking to bring you quality, educational, and unique programming for your children. From new classes like A.I. Adventures: Intro to Machine Learning to old favorites like Minecraft® Modders, we have you covered.

We also offer summer youth camps led by expert ACC faculty, such as Clay for Kids, which is back for a second year and taught by ACC’s Studio Art and Art History chair, Katie Caron.

For older kids, we have a brand new Shakespeare On the Page & Out Loud class, which is open to everyone over age 16. So, if you have a high school junior or senior who is itching to dive into poetic history through writing, speaking, and acting with people of all ages, this is the class for them!

Not all children are the same, and WCP understands that while some kids prefer to spend their summers creating, others prefer to jump, sprint and move. We offer athletic options where campers learn new skills while developing a passion for sports like golf and tennis.

All of our camps and youth programming can be found on our website, and thanks to your feedback, we have made our summer youth camps browsable by week and/or age. If you want to enroll your child in a day-long camp, you can sign up for both morning and afternoon sessions. One of our trusted staff supervises learners during lunch time, and lunch bunch students often form a unique bond that can only happen while sharing food.

So, take a look at our youth programming, and let us be your place where magical things happen this summer!
