Tomas Named CHIMA President-Elect

Arapahoe Community College (ACC) Health Information Technology (HIT) and Health Information Management (HIM) Program Coordinator / Faculty Christine Tomas was appointed as 2026–27 President-Elect for the Colorado Health Information Management Association (CHIMA) during the 2026 CHIMA spring meeting on June 4-5 at the ACC Littleton Campus.

Tomas’ President-Elect appointment is part of a three-year leadership commitment (President-Elect: 2026-27, President: 2027-28, and Past President: 2028-29) for CHIMA, which empowers health professionals to transform trusted health information by connecting people, systems, and ideas.

"I am excited about this opportunity to bring ACC's HIT and HIM programs increased visibility, stronger statewide partnerships, and more collaboration opportunities as we continue strengthening connections between education and the HIM profession across Colorado," said Tomas.

ACC's Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in HIT and Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degree in HIM prepare learners for rewarding careers in the medical field utilizing technical savvy to acquire, analyze, and protect digital and traditional medical information vital to providing quality patient care.

ACC drives new and creative approaches to education, with a focus on building forward-thinking pathways to social and economic mobility. ACC creates and strengthens pipelines into high-demand careers by developing work-based learning opportunities and real-world experiences in response to evolving labor market needs.
