Biography

Professional background/Prior experience: 20 years in higher education: teaching, managing and administrating educational programs. Sheila enjoys streamlining processes for students, faculty and the Director of Nursing. She firmly believes in the power of education to transform both individuals and the world. Favorite quote by John F. Kennedy: "One person can make a difference, and everyone should try." Prior to moving to Colorado, she developed a highly successful professional motorcycle training program at Pima Community College in Tucson, Arizona, utilizing a national curriculum. She trained and led a team of 28 instructors to serve over 1100 students per year. Awards/Recognitions: Appointed by (then) Governor Janet Napolitano to serve on the Arizona Motorcycle Safety Advisory Board. Elected as the first woman to Chair the Board and served from 2004-07. Received two awards for the program at Pima Community College (from the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, and American Society of Safety Engineers), and two personal awards for community service from the FBI and LULAC (League of United Latin American Citizens).
