Introduces different types of natural hazards, their causes, effects, and what can be done to reduce the risks to human populations. Scientific advances related to understanding, predicting, and preparing for natural disasters are discussed. This course also covers anthropogenic changes to Earth systems, which may be increasing the frequency and severity of these events. This is a statewide Guaranteed Transfer course in the GT-SC2 category. Note: This course was previously listed as ENV 110.
