Nicole Hartman's Journey Into Commercial Photography at ACC

Nicole Hartman currently is a second-year student in the Commercial Photography Program at ACC. Nicole currently is exhibiting her piece “Betrayal” in the new exhibition BINARY at the Foolproof Contemporary Art Gallery located in the RiNo art district. Nicole was hand-picked by the curator and creative director Laura Phelps Rogers, along with several professional artists to be on display until December 18th.

As part of the Commercial Photography AAS and Studio Art Transfer AA program students create imagery with an emphasis on storytelling to help market a product, service, person, or idea. They focus on developing skills in the areas of studio and location lighting, digital photography, asset management, post-production techniques, and marketing and business practices. Additionally, students participate in internships and exhibitions to increase their professional experience and networking.

"When first starting at ACC I was worried I couldn’t make a career out of photography. I knew I had the passion and drive to back it up but honestly, I was nervous. To my surprise, the energy in the Art and Design Center boosted my positivity and imagination. My professors pushed me to create and helped me gain the courage to make a final book series that truly encapsulated my emotions at the time. I had absolutely no idea it would be the start of my journey. A year later having my image from that series currently displayed in Foolproof Contemporary Art Gallery gives me inspiration for the future, and fuels my fire to want to accomplish even more. "

As part of her AAS degree, Nicole has been working towards owning her own studio and business in editorial portrait photography with undertones of fashion and fine art.
