STEM Café: Management or Manipulation?

Date
04-11-24
Time
04:00 pm ~ 05:00 pm
Location

Join us for STEM Café: Management or Manipulation? on April 11 from 4-5pm in M3750 (Littleton Campus). Hear from guest speaker: Skot Latona, Park Manager and Certified Heritage Interpreter, 26 years working at South Platte Park.

Join the manager of Littleton’s floodplain park for a look at what goes into the care of this 880-acre open space along the river. A variety of studies show how eons of ecological processes have been interrupted in the last few decades. How does South Suburban Parks and Recreation decide along a spectrum of guiding natural processes to manipulating natural systems? What science or anecdotal evidence guides decisions addressing forest prescriptions, river conditions, plant communities, wildlife interventions or visitor behavior?
