Arapahoe Community College will host the Third Annual Affordable Arts Festival on Sunday, Aug. 24, from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at its Littleton Campus (5900 S. Santa Fe Drive).  The Affordable Arts Festival is managed and promoted by Jim DeLutes, Director of the Downtown Denver Arts Festival.

The Affordable Arts Festival will feature fine arts and fine crafts - all for sale for under $100 - from over 130 local and national artists, including Arabella Tatershall, who won Best of Show (Sculpture) at the 2013 Downtown Denver Arts Festival.  A LIST OF SOME OF THE AWARD-WINNING ARTISTS AT THE 2014 AFFORDABLE ARTS FESTIVAL

Online tickets for this event are available for $6, and admission at the gate will be $5.  Proceeds from admission fees will benefit the ACC Foundation.

“The Affordable Arts Festival will give great artists a perfect venue to sell their existing inventory, new inspirations and past creations, while providing people with a friendly, unintimidating place to see, experience and buy high-quality artwork all for under $100," said DeLutes, who has served as the Director of the Downtown Denver Arts Festival since 2007.  "The Affordable Arts Festival is the fastest growing festival in the region."

The Affordable Arts Festival will take place on the west lawn at ACC's Littleton Campus.  The Southwest Line (C or D) of the RTD Light Rail is located just two blocks east of ACC.  Free parking is also available in designated lots throughout campus.

The Umbria: A Sense of Place exhibit begins today and will be on display through Thursday, Oct. 16.  The festivities will also include a reception with light refreshments on Friday, Sept. 5, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.

The show will be comprised of paintings and photographs created by ACC students and faculty who traveled to La Romita School of Art in Umbria, Italy, for two weeks during the summer of 2014.

artwork by Judith PurcellACC's painting students were introduced to the particular concerns and methods associated in working with the Italian landscape and cityscape, while ACC's photography students learned creative methods associated with documenting the Italian landscape, cityscape and people.

Admission is free and the exhibition is open to the public.  Hours of operation at the Colorado Gallery of the Arts for this exhibition are as follows:

MONDAY - FRIDAY:  Noon - 5:00 p.m. (open Tuesdays until 7:00 p.m.)
SATURDAY / SUNDAY:  closed

The opening reception for the Umbria: A Sense of Place exhibit will be held today from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Colorado Gallery of the Arts at ACC.  The show will be on display through Thursday, Oct. 16.

The Denver Center for Crime Victims (DCCV) will present on victims’ rights in Colorado and services they provide to victims.

DCCV provides culturally and linguistically responsive programs, health promotion and crime prevention education.  DCCV services are broad, supporting survivors of simple theft, domestic and sexual violence, to suicide/homicide survivors.  DCCV provides crisis intervention, case management, financial assistance, client relocation, integrated physical and mental health programs and more, all without financial cost to its clients.
