ACC offers three different types of testing:

Instructional, College Placement, and Community

Instructional Testing is available for students who need to take make-up tests and any telecourse or on-line class tests where the student may need a proctored environment. Distraction Free room and MLT exams require appointments. Plan ahead during peak periods of mid-terms and finals.  Call 303.797.5993 with any questions.

ACCUPLACER Placement Testing is mandated by Community Colleges of Colorado Board Policy for community college students who are either:

Seeking a degree or certificate. This includes all new students and continuing students who switch from unknown to degree seeking and/or enrolling in College-level English or math.

If you are a first-time college student wishing to enroll, you MUST complete the assessment in English, Reading, and Mathematics. The Colorado Community College and Occupational Education System (of which ACC is a member) has determined this policy. The assessment helps you and your advisor select courses appropriate for your educational background, and in the long term, will help you succeed in college.

To take an assessment test, visit the Testing Center in Room M2210. No appointment is necessary for ACCUPLACER testing unless you are taking this assessment for another college.  The cost for taking the ACCUPLACER is $10 for ACC students on their first attempt. Students wishing to take the Accuplacer for another college must call for an appointment and the fee is $35. Retesting policy is as follows- After your first Accuplacer you must wait 24 hours before testing a second time. Any additional testing has a wait period of thirty days. After your third time testing you must wait one year before retesting. The first time you test the cost is $10 for ACC students but retests cost $10 per section. You may be exempt from the Accuplacer if you have ACT or SAT that are less than five years old or prior college classes with a grade of C or higher.  For an evaluation of your scores please fax them to: 303.797.5086 You may also email them to testingcenter@arapahoe.edu.
