topics can be discussed on a walk-in basis during the following times:

Reference resources (computers, books) are available during normal operating hours.  You may access ACC Career Connect 24 hours a day!

  • Job Postings: Postings are available at the new ACC Career Connect system. Log on through myACC and click on the Resources tab. Additionally, few paper listings are available inside the Career Center.
  • Free Computer Access: Computers are available for composing resumes, online job searching, online career planning assessments and research databases.
  • Career and Job Fairs: Job fairs and special career programs are offered each semester.

Photovoltaics Careers

PV Solar Panel Installer:
Installation of commercial and residential solar energy systems.
The career outlook for a PV solar installer is excellent.They make on average $13 to $18/hour.

Photovoltaic-PV Solar Designer: Specify and/or recommend solar panel systems for residences and buildings, following detailed site analysis. Assist and inform the electricians who install solar panels. Often use AutoCad to design systems.
The career outlook for a photovoltaic/pv solar designer is excellent. They make on average $40,000 to $60,000 a year.
 
Solar Fabrication & Testing Technician: Test photovoltaic solar cells to verify that they generate a sufficient amount of electrical energy from the sun. Photovoltaic Fabrication Technicians wire the tested solar cells into arrays of solar panels.
The career outlook for a photovoltaic-pv fabrication and testing technician is very good. They make on average $22 to $27 dollars an hour.
 
Solar Operations Engineer: Essentially an architect of new solar energy facilities. They design new solar systems, supervise and inspect the structures during construction, then test and monitor the new facilities. 
The career outlook for a solar operations engineer is good. They make on average $52-$62 thousand a year.
 
Solar Lab Technician: generally works in Research & Development for a solar energy company. A Solar Lab Technician would work on the design, production, installation, and testing of new solar energy technologies. Consequently, this job requires a higher degree of technical knowledge and ability than would be required for a solar panel installer/repairman. 
The career outlook for a solar lab technician is very good. They make on average $22 to $27 dollars an hour.
