Arapahoe Community College will host an American Indian Speaker Series on Nov. 5, 12 and 18 in honor of American Indian Heritage Month.

These events will commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Sand Creek Massacre.

Red Moon: Then and Now
This program traces the history of Cheyenne camp from the northern plains to present-day western Oklahoma with emphasis on Chief Yellow Wolf and his son, Chief Red Moon, as well as Bent's Old Fort and the Sand Creek Massacre.

History of the Establishment of the Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Site
This program will trace the eight-year process of the effort to locate the massacre site by Cheyenne and Arapaho community leaders, scholars and federal and state officials including the oral history project and the passage of three federal legislations that guide work at the site today.

Christians and the Sand Creek Massacre
This session will explore the moral and Christian implications surrounding the involvement of prominent Methodist leaders John Evans and John Chivington in the Sand Creek Massacre and how Christians today reconcile the tragedy.
