Are you a master gamer? Do you love computers, technology or design? Turn your love of games and technology into a career. Our Game Design and Development program is a unique program that offers training in game programming and development, 2D and 3D modeling and animation, with your choice of an emphasis in Multimedia or Computer Science. You could program, develop and/or design the games you love to play.
Our lab is equipped with up-to-date tools and engines to provide you with the right hands-on experience to enhance what you learn in the classroom. Our faculty and instructors are experts in the field and can guide you through our 2-year AAS program. While completing your AAS degree, you will begin building your portfolio with games you develop as a part of your courses.
If you choose to continue your education at a 4-year institution after you graduate, our courses transfer to certain institutions where you can get your Bachelor's degree in Game Development. Check with an advisor to learn more.
Why should you choose Game Design and Development?
Employment of computer programmers is expected to increase 12% from 2010 to 2020, the estimated number of Computer and Mathematical employed in Colorado in 2012 was 96,473. It is projected that in 2022 there will be 125,065.
Employment of software developers is projected to grow 30% from 2010 to 2020, much faster than the average for all occupations. The main reason for the rapid growth is a large increase in the demand for computer software. Employment of multimedia artists and animators is expected to grow by 8% from 2010 to 2020. Consumers will continue to demand more realistic video games, movie and television special effects, and 3D movies. Video game studios will require additional multimedia artists and animators to meet this increased demand.
In addition, an increased demand for computer graphics for mobile devices, will lead to more job opportunities. Multimedia artists will be needed to create animation for games and applications for mobile devices.
