CHE 101 Introduction to Chemistry I - 5 Credits
If you’ve never taken a chemistry course, or if it’s been a long time since your last chemistry course, this is the class for you! CHE 101 provides a comprehensive overview of general chemistry, giving students a solid foundation in chemistry and some great problem-solving skills. This course includes a lab section and will prepare students to take CHE 111 and CHE 112, the general college chemistry sequence.

ACC Programs Supported:

Associate of Arts
Associate of General Studies
Associate of Applied Science

Transfers To:CHE 101 is a guaranteed transfer course and transfers to most Colorado public four-year institutions
Prerequisites:Successful completion of MAT 060

CHE 111 General College Chemistry I - 5 Credits
If you’ve successfully completed introductory chemistry (CHE 101) or high school chemistry, and plan to continue studying engineering or the sciences, CHE 111 is the next step. CHE 111 is the first of two courses that provide students with a thorough study of general chemistry concepts and in-depth problem-solving techniques.

Associate of General Studies
Associate of Applied Science
Transfers To:CHE 111 is a guaranteed transfer course and transfers to most Colorado public four-year institutions
Prerequisites:Successful completion of either CHE101 or high school chemistry
MAT 121 is a corequisite

CHE 112 General College Chemistry II - 5 Credits
This course is the continuation of CHE 111, General College Chemistry I. Topics not covered in the first semester are addressed here, including many of which are never encountered in high school chemistry classes. CHE 112 involves the use of more math skills than CHE 111, and problem solving techniques are emphasized. Completion of this class will prepare students to take higher level chemistry classes such as organic chemistry.

CHE 211 Organic Chemistry I - 5 Credits
Organic Chemistry I involves the study of compounds containing carbon. These are the compounds of life: carbohydrates, proteins, etc. Therefore, CHE 211 is a great course for students interested in pursuing careers in chemistry, biochemistry, medicine or pharmacy.

CHE 212 Organic Chemistry II - 5 Credits
Organic Chemistry II is a continuation of the first semester, with emphasis on reactions of organic compounds. Many of these reactions occur in biochemistry cycles, so CHE 212 is a great precursor to the study of biochemistry. It is also a fundamental course for those who wish to pursue careers in chemistry or related sciences.
