WCP Is Your One-Stop Shop for Computer and Technology Needs

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that computer and information technology careers will grow 21% from 2021 to 2031. WCP has a variety of programs and courses that can help you develop and improve your technology skills, whether you’re interested in starting a career or starting from step one.

Our Computer Basics course is designed for people who have little to no experience with computers. You will learn how to use a mouse, how to organize files and folders, and how to personalize a computer so that it works for you. You will also learn about how and where to save documents, how to create folders, and the difference between restarting and shutting down your device. You’ll learn essential skills like updating a computer and how to browse the internet. You don’t need to have a computer to take this class-we provide you with laptops during class sessions. This class also comes with a textbook filled with exercises and self-assessments. After taking this course, you will feel more comfortable with computers, and should be ready to take one of our other computer courses.

You probably know that Microsoft Excel is the most widely used spreadsheet application in the world-after all, it’s what most of us visualize when we think of spreadsheets. WCP offers 2 Microsoft Excel classes that are designed to be taken either individually or back-to-back, depending on your level of familiarity with Excel. Both classes come with a textbook, which includes access to an online student resource center.

Microsoft Excel Level 1 helps you edit and format entries, select cells and ranges, and create and modify basic formulas. You’ll also learn to insert charts and tables, how to create a template and how to sort and filter data.

Microsoft Excel Level 2 takes you one step further. This class emphasizes intermediate topics which include themes, cell styles, and number formats. You’ll learn to use advanced functions for dates and numbers, conditional functions, text functions, and lookup functions. This class is for people who have either taken Microsoft Excel Level 1 or those who already have a firm grasp on basic functions within Excel.

WCP also offers a Google G-Suite Certification. What exactly is included in G-Suite? A lot! Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, Google Drive, Google Meet, and Google Forms are all tools within G-Suite. This certification course comes with online courseware with practice exams and videos, test vouchers and scheduled one-on-one tutoring. This class is eligible for up to 100% workforce funding to qualified individuals.

In addition to G-Suite Certification, WCP offers a Social Media Certification course. According to Statista, 88% of marketers expect to hire one social media expert in the next two years, while 62% expect to hire 2-6 social media team members. Our Social Media Certification course will provide you with online practice exams and videos, test vouchers and scheduled tutoring and is eligible for workforce center funding. This course is an excellent choice for people looking to start a career as an SEO specialist, Social Media Marketing Manager, Online Community Manager or Blogger.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average wage of software developers in Colorado in May 2022 was between $114,750 and $234,540.
