Peer Mentors

Become a Peer Mentor in ACC’s Student Success Center

Primary Purpose: Peer Mentors help facilitate new students' transition into ACC. Each Mentor will connect regularly with five to ten new students throughout the semester.
Mentors check in with their Mentees often (by email/text/face-to-face) once a week or every other week to help them become:

  • Informed about Arapahoe Community College
  • Prepared for college life
  • Connected to the school community
  • Aware of services and resources
  • Confident in their abilities to plan their academic pathway


  • Strengthen valuable personal, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Add mentoring experience to your resume
  • Become eligible for various campus opportunities

Essential Functions: Peer Mentors must be able to commit 5+ hours/week throughout the semester, attend mandatory training sessions, and possess the following characteristics:

  • An interest in helping new students understand college life
  • An appreciation for people from diverse backgrounds and lifestyles
  • An enthusiasm for ACC
  • An eagerness to become more knowledgeable about campus resources
  • An ability to serve as a positive personal and academic role model


  • Completion of one or more terms at ACC
  • Good standing at ACC with a GPA of 2.5 and above
  • General knowledge about ACC and a willingness to learn more
  • Commitment and availability to serve the entire semester

    (This is a Student Hourly position. Work Study students are not eligible.)
