NSF Grant Supports STEM Students at ACC

The National Science Foundation has awarded a three-year, $1.5 million Louis Stokes B2B Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP) grant to the Metro Denver STEM Alliance.

A partnership among Arapahoe Community College, Community College of Aurora, Community College of Denver, Front Range Community College and Red Rocks Community College, the Metro Denver STEM Alliance will work to increase the number of underrepresented minority students enrolling in science, technology, engineering and math programs at two-year schools. Community College of Aurora is the lead institution for the grant.

The Alliance will focus on engaging targeted students in STEM exposure, career and degree planning activities, and enhancing students’ capacity to apply STEM knowledge. Expected outcomes include improved pathways for students transferring to four-year schools, and greater opportunities to embark upon successful STEM careers.

For more information about the Metro Denver STEM Alliance, please contact Victor Vialpando Nunez, Dean of the School of Professional Studies and Sciences at Community College of Aurora, at 303-340-7243.
