Arapahoe Community College has selected Mary Carr (Faculty), Juan Greening (Administrator) and Elden Raugust (Classified) as its 2017-18 Employees of the Year.
Carr, who serves as the Department Chair for Anthropology, Economics, Political Science and Sociology, has taught at ACC for over 20 years, including 17 years in an adjunct role. All told, her teaching experience spans 27 years. Carr currently serves as the faculty advisor for the ACC chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success. Her POS 105 class partners with Community College of Aurora’s Model United Nations experiential learning simulation to provide students with the opportunity to simulate the policies and processes of the United Nations. Carr also founded ACC’s Professional Teaching Community on Writing in the Curriculum. Carr earned her bachelor’s (Political Science) and master’s (Public Administration) degrees from the University of Maine.
Greening, the Director of Mail and Printing Services, has been with ACC for 25 years, including his time as a work-study, hourly and full-time employee. Greening’s committee work includes service as a Title IX Investigator, as well as positions on the “Be the Difference” committee and the College Assessment Team. He garnered ACC Distinguished Staff recognition during the 2004-05 academic year. Greening earned his AAS degree (Commercial Art) from ACC before going on to complete his bachelor’s (Technical Administration; MSU-Denver) and master’s (MBA; CU Denver) degrees. A craft beer and football enthusiast, Greening also enjoys walking, hiking and fishing.
An Information Technology Technician, Raugust has worked at ACC for 11 years, beginning as a pro-tech in 2006. He served as an IT Specialist (2007-15) and IT Analyst (2015-16) before assuming his current duties last year. Overall, Elden has worked on computers for over 27 years. A graduate of Denver Institute of Technology (associate degree in Electronics Technology), Elden has also taken industry-related classes at ACC and Colorado Technical University. He began his education at CU Boulder, earning a four-year Army ROTC scholarship. Elden, who has earned ACC Gem recognition on four occasions, resides in Aurora. He enjoys the scenic Colorado outdoors, as well as game nights with family and friends during the holidays.
