Bauer named Faculty Member of the Year

LITTLETON, Colo. (Dec. 11, 2013) - Nia Bauer has been selected as Arapahoe Community College’s 2013-14 Faculty Member of the Year.

Nia BauerNow in her sixth year as a biology professor at ACC, Bauer is the founding advisor of ACC’s Sustainability Club.  She also serves as the principal investigator of ACC’s S-STEM National Science Foundation Grant, as well as the STEM Coach for Englewood High School (through a Race to the Top grant).

Bauer’s teaching experience, which spans 15 years, also includes positions at Umpqua Community College (2001-06), the University of Oregon (2003) and Front Range Community College (2007-08).

Bauer earned her B.A. in Biology from the University of San Diego before going on to complete her Ph.D. from the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

Bauer resides in Broomfield with her husband, Brent, and daughters Olivia (11) and Charlotte (9).
