Find out how you can transfer your complete A.A. degree with Creative Writing Area of Interest into a B.A. program with Adams State University, Western State Colorado University, Santa Fe University of Art and Design, Regis University, and the University College at the University of Denver.
ACC students who earn the Associate of Arts degree with the Creative Writing Area of Interest have the opportunity to seamlessly transfer to Adams State University, Western State Colorado University, or Santa Fe University of Art and Design to complete a Bachelor of Arts degree in Creative Writing.
Adams State University
Adams State University offers a Baccalaureate degree in English with a Creative Writing Area of Interest. Students who receive the A.A. degree with a Creative Writing Area of Interest will have all classes taken at ACC transferred into the degree program at ASU. Students will only need an additional 9 courses (27 credit hours) to complete the Baccalaureate degree in Creative Writing at ASU.
Students must complete a total of 120 hours to graduate from ASU with a B.A.; 42 hours must be at the upper-division level. All English majors, including those in Creative Writing, must complete a 200-level language course other than English.
Western State Colorado University
Western State Colorado University (WSCU) offers ACC creative writing students transferring to its B.A. in English with a Creative Writing Emphasis the opportunity to transfer all 60 credits of the A.A. degree, including all creative writing classes, into the program. Students must then complete 60 more courses at Western State, 40 of which must be at the upper division courses.

Santa Fe University of Art and Design
Santa Fe University of Art and Design is a small, accredited university. "Programs at the university combine practical experience with core theory, empowering students to develop a thorough understanding of their professional aspirations in contemporary music, creative writing, theatre, art, graphic design, film, photography, digital arts, and arts management." Each year, 35 students are admitted to SFUAD in creative writing. The University offers specific scholarships for transferring community college students.
Students with an A.A. degree with Creative Writing Area of Interest may transfer up to 60 credits to SFUAD, including all creative writing classes taken at ACC. Student must then complete 60 more credit hours in order to receive the B.A. in Creative Writing and Literature. Graduating students will complete a book manuscript as part of their final project at SFUAD.
The Creative Writing Emphasis at ACC also works closely with several universities in helping its AA students to continue their studies in related BA degrees.
University of Denver University College Bachelor of Arts Completion Program for Working Professionals
ACC Creative Writing Area of Interest students may transfer 64 semester hour credits to the Bachelor of Arts Completion Program at DU and complete B.A. degrees in such areas as Communication Arts, Global Studies, and Environmental Studies. The program offers Colorado Community College Success Scholarships specifically for transferring community college students for up to $4480 a year. Students may work on a M.A. in creative writing in conjunction with their B.A. degree.
