Ed Breazeale is a drum set performer, composer and jazz educator. He has had the good fortune to perform with many jazz luminaries including: Phil Woods, Victor Goines, Peter Martin, Cyrus Chestnut, Billy Hart, Maria Schneider, Von Freeman, David “Fathead” Newman, Bobby Broom, Nnenna Freelon, Brad Goode, Andy Laverne, Jon Faddis, Elliot Mason and Carlos Henriquez. Ed holds a Bachelor's degree in jazz and studio music from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and a Master's degree in jazz performance and pedagogy from the University of Colorado. A dedicated and passionate educator, Ed has taught in a wide variety of venues. Currently Ed is a lecturer at the Arapahoe Community College and University of Colorado-Denver in addition to teaching at Denver School of the Arts. He is a Vic Firth Artist/Educator and has conducted clinics at the following educational festivals, high schools and colleges: Rolling Meadows Jazz Festival, Evanston Jazz Festival, St. Vrain Jazz Festival, Niwot High School, Northern Kentucky University, University of Colorado and Shepherd’s College.
In addition to teaching music business, I teach a wide variety of subjects at various schools including: drum set lessons, jazz and popular music ensembles, music theory, ear-training and jazz improvisation. I also have extensive experience in the formation and direction of educational percussion and jazz ensemble curriculum for public school districts.
