I earned my B.A. in History from Colorado State University, and my M.A. in History from the University of South Dakota. From 2007-2008, I served as a graduate assistant for the Department of History at the University of South Dakota. Since then, I have been teaching American History, Western Civilizations, World Civilizations, Islamic Civilizations, 20th Century World History, and Special Topics courses at the community college level.
My area of specialization is the Early British Empire (particularly in the Caribbean and North America).
Although I am originally from Iowa, the state of Colorado has served me as a second home for more than a decade. I am a wilderness enthusiast, enjoy snowboarding and fishing (though not simultaneously), I play a mean piano, and have backpacked through North Africa, New Zealand, British Columbia, Alaska, and 21 countries in Europe.
