MLT 141 Immunology/Immunohematology
Covers the basic principles of antigens, antibodies and the immune system. Serological techniques practiced and observed in the clinical laboratory such as: Flocculation, agglutination, precipitation and elisa, complement fixation and hemaglutination are discussed. Also included are basic theories of genetics, blood group systems and antibodies, compatibility testing, antibody screening and identification, transfusion reactions, hemolytic disease of the newborn, component therapy and donor selection. Proficient performance of related laboratory testing is mandatory.
