Did you know that Arapahoe Community College has its own Campus Police Department dedicated to making ACC a safe and welcoming space for our students, employees, and our community? Let's get to know a little more about ACC's Campus Police. 

Facts about ACC's Campus Police Department

  1. There are 10 full-time, sworn members of the ACC PD; a chief, a sergeant, 2 corporals, and 6 police officers.
  2. These 10 employees have over 180 combined years of service and have served 19 other agencies with roles in urban and rural areas as well as both coasts.
  3. They speak 9 languages in addition to English (Spanish, Russian, German, Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Malayalam, Tamil, and Telengu)
  4. 2 hold or have held executive law enforcement positions with experience in creating policy, as well as establishing training goals and managing records, evidence, and property, along with investigating internal matters

How ACC's Campus Police Department Can Help You

  • Police Services: Police officers patrol the campus buildings and grounds in marked patrol vehicles, on foot, and mountain / ebikes patrol bikes. Officers also respond to incidents on various city streets intersecting the campus.
  • Investigative Services: Police Officers are trained and capable to handle criminal investigations, including the processing or latent fingerprints and crime scene photography, evidence collection, and victim / witness interviewing. ACC Police also partner with local police departments, Littleton, Castle Rock PD, Lone Tree PD for further investigations.
  • Safety Escort: Any student, faculty, staff member, or visitor who is concerned about their personal safety while on campus is welcome to contact us for an escort to or from an ACC building.
  • Motorist Assistance: They offer jump-starts for dead batteries and "unlocks" if you lose or leave your keys inside your car.
  • Emergency Contact Service: A Police Officer can deliver emergency messages to students in class. We will evaluate each message to determine if it warrants interrupting a class or can be delayed until class ends.
  • Lost & Found: Lost and Found service is maintained in the Campus Police office. Items turned in are kept for 60 days. Unclaimed items are donated to charity.
  • Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) and CARE Team: The Chief and Sergeant also assist with the Dean of Students, and other BIT / CARE members to assess student issues of violence prevention and overall student wellness.
  • Crisis Intervention Team: ACC Officers have received training preparing them to interact with persons experiencing mental health or development challenges.
  • Current and Specialized Training: All members of the ACC Police Department are Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) requirements Police officers are certified in CPR, Adult / Child, AED, Basic First Aid, including epinephrine (Epi-Pen), Narcan (overdose intervention). Several police officers are certified instructors in law enforcement disciplines.  
  • Electronic & Ink Fingerprinting: In order to serve our customers more efficiently, we provide fingerprinting services. Appointments are available: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00am - 12:00pm. The Campus Police Department provides electronic and ink fingerprinting services to the public for a fee.

Campus Police serve from 6:00am to 11:30pm, Monday through Friday and Saturdays from 7:00am to 5:00pm. They are available at 303.797.5800.
