Purchasing Books with Financial Aid

On-Campus | Off-Campus

You can purchase books on campus at the ACC Bookstore (Follett Bookstore) with financial aid.

How it works:

  • Books and necessary school supplies can be charged to your student account up to a week before classes start and ending after the Drop/Add period- approximately 3 weeks.
  • Using this option means that financial aid (including grants, scholarships and loans) money you have been awarded then pays tuition and fees as well as your books and supplies charges!
  • All you have to do is tell the Bookstore Cashier-“Please charge this to my financial aid!”

What you need to know:

  1. You have to apply and be awarded Federal Student Aid first. You can start this process by completing the Free Application for Federal student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
  2. The amount of money (grants, scholarships and loans) you have been awarded must exceed your total tuition, fee, books and supplies charges. You will have to pay any charges in excess of incoming financial aid money.
  3. This service is intended for the purchase of books and necessary supplies. CDs, food or clothing CANNOT be charged to your student account.
  4. By charging your books and supplies on account you agree to adhere to the policies and procedures of the ACC Financial Aid Office and Follett Bookstore. These policies include, but are not limited to, refunds, returns and exchanges.

REMEMBER—Your bookstore charges will be subtracted from any financial aid refund check mailed to you.

You can visit the Follett bookstore online at www.arapahoe.bkstr.com.

Purchasing books Off-Campus

You can purchase books off campus with an advance of financial aid funds by following these steps:

  1. Download and complete the Books and Supplies Promissory Note form.
  2. Print an invoice or “shopping cart”, if shopping online, of all books and supplies you intend to purchase from a location other than ACC Follett Bookstore.
  3. Bring the complete Books and Supplies Promissory Note form and invoices to the Financial Aid Office. You may fax the forms to 303-797-5663—please indicate on your cover sheet if you would like to pick up a check at the Cashier’s Office or have a check mailed to you.
  4. Contact the Financial Aid Office at 303-797-5661 to confirm your fax arrived.

The Financial Aid Office will process your request and funds will be available at the Cashier’s Office a minimum of 24 hours later. You may elect to have the funds sent to you via US Mail, however you must indicate this option on the Books and Supplies Promissory Note form and allow 1 week for delivery. The Financial Aid Office will not honor any bookstore authorizations received prior to the week before classes begin or after the Drop/Add period (refer to ACC’s Course Schedule).

What you need to know:

  1. You have to apply for Federal Student Aid first. You can do so online by completing the Free Application for Federal student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov (link)
  2. The amount of money (grants, scholarships and loans) available is the amount of aid you have been awarded minus your total tuition and fee charges. You will not qualify for this service if tuition and fee charges are in excess of incoming financial aid money.
  3. This service is intended for the purchase of books and necessary supplies. CDs, food or clothing CANNOT be charged to your student account.
  4. By using the Books and Supplies Promissory Note, you agree to adhere to the policies and procedures of the ACC Financial Aid Office. These policies include, but are not limited to, refunds, returns and exchanges.
