Placement testing is mandated by Board Policy for community college students who are:
Seeking a degree or certificate. This includes all new students and continuing students who switch from unknown to degree seeking
and/or Enrolling in College-level English or math.
If you are a first-time college student wishing to enroll in a certificate or degree program, you MUST complete assessment in English, Reading, and Mathematics. The Colorado Community College and Occupational Education System (of which ACC is a member) has determined this policy. The assessment helps you and your advisor select courses appropriate for your educational background, and in the long term, will help you succeed in college.
Assessment,orientation, and advising PRECEDE registration. The assessment test is a user-friendly "ACCUPLACER Assessment."
The ACCUPLACER is an UNTIMED test and results are available immediately. Retest policy-The Accuplacer can only be taken 3 times in any one year period. After the first time testing a second time can be taken as early as the next day. A 30 day wait period precedes the time a student can test for the third time. Students must wait one year from the date of the third time testing to test again. The Biology Accuplacer can only be taken one time. The cost for the Accuplacer is $10 for the first time assessing. The cost for retests is $10 per section.
