ACC Hosts Lecture on "Surviving the Rwandan Genocide"

(October 18, 2007 Littleton Colo.) On Tuesday, November 13 at 11:30 a.m, the Spring International Language Center at Arapahoe Community College and ACC's International Club present "Surviving the Rwandan Genocide," a lecture by Dr. Hadidja Nyiransekuye. Nyiransekuye, who recently received a Ph.D., from the University of Denver, will speak on her experiences with war and genocide in Rwanda.

She worked as a teacher in Rwanda before escaping the mass killings of the 1994 genocide in Rwanda which according to some estimates led to the deaths of one million Rwandans. After the genocide, she was involved in trauma recovery and the fight against gender discrimination. She currently teaches African History and an Integrative Seminar at Metropolitan State College of Denver. The lecture will occur in Room M1950 in the Main Building of Arapahoe Community College, 5900 South Santa Fe Drive in Littleton.
