ACC Student Publication "Progenitor" Among Best in the Nation
(October 3, 2007-Littleton, Colo.) The 2007 edition of Progenitor, the student-produced literary magazine at Arapahoe Community College is in the same company of publications produced by Harvard University, Drake University and Columbia College. Progenitor is a finalist for a Pacemaker Award. Considered the country's most prestigious award in college media, the winner will be announced later this month at this year's College Media Conference in Washington.
Produced every spring, Progenitor has consistently ranked among the top college literary magazines in the country, receiving numerous awards for design and content.
According to Chris Ransick, ACC English faculty member and advisor for Progenitor, "The '07 edition was the best one produced since I began advising the magazine in 1990 and all the credit goes to the student staff. This is their project. I am so very proud of them for this achievement."
A contingent of ACC students will be in Washington D.C to accept the award if it is forthcoming. But regardless of whether Progenitor wins top honors, to be a finalist for a Pacemaker Award is itself an impressive achievement. The staff that produced the 2007 Progenitor include: Editor, Jeff Jones; Assistant Editors Cate Witter and Christie Scarbrough; Art Directors Hannah Welter and Joel Peppo; Literary Directors Christina Lollis and Olas Caranyannis; and Graphic Designers Sarah Inbody and Amanda Smith.
