Free Legal Seminars held at in the Half Moon
On April 3, “The People’s Law School (PLS),” a collaborative project between the Arapahoe County Bar Association (ACBA) and Arapahoe Community College’s Paralegal Program, will present Our Court. The first of five free seminar starts on Thursdays at 7:00 p.m. at ACC’s Main campus located at 5900 S. Santa Fe Drive in Littleton. These free seminars are open to the public and will be held in the College’s Half Moon.
“The People’s Law School,” is channeling the resources of the 1,100-member ACBA and ACC’s Paralegal Associate of Applied/Certificate Program to produce a series of free educational legal seminars for the public. PLS faculty is made up of practicing legal professionals in a variety of fields which will be focused on during the series.
“This is a great opportunity for the public to learn more about the law from experts”, states Mary Peoples, ACC’s Paralegal Program Coordinator.
The schedule for the complimentary PLS seminars are as follows:
- April 3, Our Courts, program given by Judge Nancy Hopf, 18th Judicial District in Castle Rock and Judge Chris Cross, Arapahoe County Judge. This class provides an introduction to the court system. It delves into the purpose of courts and how judges are elected.
- April 10, Domestic Relations, workshop headed by Rick Brentlinger, an attorney practicing in Family Law since 1978.
- April 17, Criminal Law and Small Business, issues chaired by Andy Contiguglia, an attorney practicing in Litigation and Entertainment Law and adjunct faculty at ACC.
- April 24, Everything You Wanted to Know About Insurance Law, led by Laura Trask Schneider, an attorney practicing in Malpractice Negligence/Insurance Issues.
- May 1, Law Day Celebration, will feature Judge Bonnie McLean, a juvenile court judge in Arapahoe County.
