Mount Everest Climber Featured at ACC Foundation Luncheon

Mt. Everest climber and photographer, Jake Norton to Speak about Overcoming Challenges as Nick at Nite 2006 winner of the Funniest Mom in America contest, Rubi Nicholas Emcees the Arapahoe Community College Foundation’s 2nd Annual Scholarship Recognition Luncheon

(March 20, 2007 – Littleton, Colo.) Only a handful of people in the world have reached the summit of Mt. Everest. Jake Norton has done it twice, and he’s only 33! Jake, a professional climber and photographer will give an inspirational presentation at the Arapahoe Community College Foundation’s 2nd annual scholarship recognition luncheon on April 10. The luncheon, “Education: Stairway to Achievement” will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Inverness Hotel and Conference Center, 200 Inverness Drive West in Englewood.

Jake is dedicated to helping people overcome obstacles and conquer dreams. He will discuss the relationship between climbing Everest and working towards a college degree. The event will honor donors who have supported the Foundation and have helped many students overcome the financial barriers of a higher education. Rubi Nicholas, the 2006 winner of the Nick at Nite Funniest Mom in America contest, will be the master of ceremonies.

Profits from the event will support First Generation College Students. This ACC program is designed to support students who are the first in their family to attend college and receive a degree
