LITTLETON, Colo. (Apr. 26, 2012) – Six students from Arapahoe Community College’s Automotive Technology program qualified to compete at the 2012 Colorado SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference on Apr. 18-20 at WarrenTech in Lakewood.
ACC students who competed at the conference included (employer in parenthesis): Scott Davis (Keller Bros. Automotive), Dan Grieser (Alpine Buick GMC), Brian Hall (Ralph Schomp BMW), Marcus Sena (Purifoy Chevrolet), Shane Sims (Planet Honda) and Joe Thrasher (Ralph Schomp BMW). All six students qualified for the competition via pre-event testing through SkillsUSA.
The 14-station competition at the conference was comprised of eight ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) components. Three students – Davis (3rd place), Sims (1st place) and Thrasher (2nd place) – earned medals for their top-three finishes at WarrenTech. By virtue of his first-place showing, Sims qualified to represent ACC at the National Leadership and Skills Conference on June 23-27 in Kansas City, Mo.
