Scheduling a Library Orientation
Session: Library
Arapahoe Community College Library is pleased to offer library
orientation classes for groups of students, as well as single individuals.
Starting with a general library research class utilizing the library's
OPAC (online public access catalog), additional instruction in the
use of periodical index resources, and Internet research, as well
as more subject specific areas is also available.
Following a brief tour of the library, instruction sessions are
held in the library computer center where students are encouraged
to participate in the research process. These instruction sessions
run approximately 45 minutes in length, but they can also be tailored
to fit the specific needs of your classes. Library personel are
happy to work with you to develop library exercises tailored to
specific subjects and classes. Faculty can use these written exercises
to reinforce the library research process in their students.
Faculty should schedule orientation sessions at least one week
in advance of the desired date. If a library exercise or accompanying
handout is desired, please allow an additional week for its preparation.
Options available for faculty:
Call the library 303.797.5726 to schedule a session or to obtain
more information
E-mail any questions about library instruction
Library Faculty Liaison Program
The ACC Library also offers its Faculty Liaison Program, which
assigns one ACC librarian to each division to serve as a ready faculty
contact for library services and information. Please call 303.797.5090
to learn the name of the librarian assigned to your department.
Requests for purchases, however, can be made to any librarian at
any time.
