Arapahoe Community College was founded in 1964 in Littleton, Colorado.  Presently we serve nearly 7,500 students in over 130 degree and certificate programs.  Arapahoe Community College also has satellite campus at The University Center at Chaparral, near Parker, Colorado.

POSITION:                   Health Sciences Technology Co-Instructor

 

ASSIGNMENT:              Faculty - Full-Time (1.0)

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:  The ACTS Health Sciences Technology, HST, co-instructors are responsible for teaching courses in the Arapahoe/Douglas Career & Technical School Health Sciences Technology program. The program is designed for high school juniors and seniors who are interested in a health career that is defined by the Colorado Health Sciences Career Cluster. The Curriculum includes but is not limited to; medical terminology, basic anatomy and physiology, medical legal and ethical issues, health sciences career options, CPR/First Aid and Cert certification, Certified Nursing Assistant Program and healthcare career internships.

 

The HST co-instructors develop and maintain working relationships with students, parents, administrators, high school counselors, HST advisory board, clinical educators and industry leaders.

 

Instructors are employed by Arapahoe Community College for the Arapahoe/Douglas Career & Technical School.  Instructors are contracted to 185 days, and follow a secondary school calendar.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing
  • Active Colorado Registered Nurse License
  • Minimum of two years experience in a medical related field

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • BLS CPR/First aid certified and/or BLS CPR/First Aid instructor certificate or the ability to obtain one within 6 months
  • Possess or have the ability to obtain a Colorado Vocational Credential
  • Possess or have the ability to obtain a Secondary Teaching License
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Teaching experience or working with high school students preferred
  • Evidence working collaboratively with others and experience working with diverse populations

COMPENSATION:

 

Compensation is commensurate with education and experience. The anticipated hiring range is mid $30’s to low $40’s.  ACC offers a competitive fringe benefit program including health, dental and life insurance.
