Student Affairs will facilitate FREE self defense training on Tuesday, April 21, at 2:30 p.m. in the Half Moon.

Sign up in advance (space is limited) at the Student Affairs Office (Room M2820) for a free one-hour training presented by Sensei Rudy Trenconsky of the Yamabushi Dojo in Highlands Ranch.  Familiarize yourself with a full range of self-defense techniques, including: awareness, assault deterrence and setting verbal boundaries.  Physical skills are practiced (full contact and full force with the “attacker”).  Learn how to overcome the freeze response and how to strategize and assess options while in an adrenaline-heightened state.  Lunch will be provided.

The Arapahoe Community College Student Affairs Office and Political Science Department will sponsor a moderated forum regarding the situation in Ferguson, MO, on Wednesday, April 22, beginning at 2:30 p.m. in the Second Floor Student Lounge.  This event is free and open to the public.

Panelists Sean Dugan, Chief of Police at Red Rocks Community College, and Ted Belteau (MS in Curriculum and Instruction, Ed.S. in Administration), educational consultant and member of the ACLU, are scheduled to be in attendance to discuss the various perspectives.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, every 107 seconds, another American is sexually assaulted.  In an effort to increase awareness about this societal problem, ACC will host a Consent Carnival on Thursday, April 23, from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. in the Second Floor Student Lounge.

Students, faculty, staff and community members are invited to play games, enjoy snacks and talk about what consent means to them.  This event is free and open to the public.

Admission is free and the sale is open to the public.  Free parking is available in all campus lots during the sale.  Hours of operation at the Colorado Gallery of the Arts for this sale are as follows:

FRIDAY, APRIL 24:  9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
