Welcome to the Arapahoe Community College Nursing Program Website. We are delighted you chose to work with our faculty in the pursuit of your career as a professional nurse.

Our program is approved by the Colorado State Board of Nursing and the Colorado Community College System. We have an Advisory Committee that provides feedback on what health care industry is looking for in outcomes for new graduates. We employ a total testing program which determines who is at high risk and who needs remediation services to pass the national licensure examination for RNs.

Our philosophy in offering the program is that faculty and students are adult learners and partners in active learning. Active learning is exhibited when students come to class prepared to solve case studies and answer questions at an analysis level, which is higher than knowledge level. Critical thinking is expected in all semesters. Classroom experiences and lab experiences demand a high level of preparation before class. The curriculum builds on all pre-requisite courses and material such as anatomy and physiology and pharmacology will not be re-taught in subsequent semesters. Students are responsible for the material presented in all previous semesters. Students must prioritize their learning to optimize the experience and make their investment worthwhile. Working more than part-time is not recommended for success.

Our formula for success on the RN licensing exam (NCLEX-RN) is :

  • active learning
  • a test plan at an increasing difficulty level, to model the NCLEX exam
  • a total testing plan with remediation and an NCLEX review course
  • 3500-4,000 computerized NCLEX practice questions
  • and simulation scenarios

Please take the time to explore the links on this page to view the components of our program. Join us in the pathway to your success starting with admission into the program!
