MISSION STATEMENT

The Mission of the Foreign Language Department at Arapahoe Community College is to develop in students an awareness of diverse cultures and languages, and give them a broader view and a better appreciation and understanding of the global world community.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The Purpose of the Foreign Language Department is to provide a learning centered environment where students can acquire or pursue successfully their foreign language education, and, through continuous assessment, to evaluate their ability to communicate in authentic situations for real-world communication within an international environment.

The Department of Foreign Languages at Arapahoe Community College offers classes in:
American Sign Language
Arabic
Chinese
French
Japanese
Latin
Spanish

Our Department offers:

• College Levels Language Courses (first through fourth semester)
• Conversation Courses (first through fourth semester)
• Special Topics Courses as a vehicle for students to explore topics of special interest in a selected language.

Study Abroad Programs:

The Department of Foreign Languages offers two summer study programs abroad:

• French Summer Study Program in France
• Spanish Summer Study Program in Costa Rica
