Eleanor White
elly.white@arapahoe.edu
Elly White holds a B.A. in English from Elmira College (Elmira, NY) and a M.S. in Education/Reading (University of Bridgeport, Bridgeport, CT). She has taught English composition, literature, public speaking, technical writing, reading, ESL, and developmental English in both traditional and non-traditional settings for the last 30 years. Ms White has found the common thread throughout her teaching career to be the development of her students’ communication skills, a result of their growth as readers and writers. Her best moments as a teacher come when a student experiences an “ah ha” moment of understanding or insight, and she’s found that the struggles a student may have had in the past disappear once he/she finds the right connection through which to learn. Ms White has written fiction and poetry, as well as press releases, news stories, and brochures as a freelance and staff writer. When not teaching, she likes to relax in the garden, on the hiking trail, in the art studio, and with friends and family
