Engineering Technologies
Degree and Certificate Requirements
2009-2010 Catalog

Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS)
An Associate Degree in this program will provide the educational background and basic technical training necessary for the graduate to seek employment with one of the area manufacturing or engineering industries. Students will be prepared for a variety of job-entry positions whose titles include Draftsperson, Junior Designer and Computer Aided Design Technician.

General Education Courses (16 credit hours)
CIS 118 Introduction to PC Applications 3 credits
ENG 121 English Composition I OR  
ENG 131 Technical Writing I 3 credits
MAT 108 Technical Mathematics or higher 4 credits
COM 115 Public Speaking 3 credits
Restricted Electives 3 credits
Choose one of the following:
CIS 118, PED 100, ECO 201, 202, POS 105, 111, GEO 105, 106, HIS 101, 102, 201, 202, or 247, ANT 101, 111, PSY 101, 102, 235, SOC 101, 102, MAT 121, 122, 201, or 202.

CAD 101 Computer Aided Drafting 3 credits
CAD 102 Computer Aided Drafting 2D 3 credits
CAD 201 Computer Aided Drafting Custom 3 credits
CAD 202 Computer Aided Drafting 3D 3 credits
CAD 217 Viz 3 credits
CAD 249 Auto LISP Programming 3 credits
CIS 130 Introduction to the Internet 1 credit
Physical Education (1 credit hour)
PED activity course 1 credit
The PED requirement may be waived for students who are 35 years of age or older at the time of most recent admissions to the College. Appropriate credit must be taken to substitute for the hour waived.

ARC 215 Architectural Graphics 3 credits
ARC 231 Building Service System 3 credits
CAD 225 Architectural Desktop/Autodesk 3 credits
Total A.A.S., Architectural Concentration 64 credit hours

Engineering Technologies: Mechanical Drafting
Certificate
The Mechanical Drafting certificate program will provide the educational background and basic technical training necessary for the graduate to seek employment with one of the area’s manufacturing or engineering industries. Students will be prepared for a variety of job-entry positions whose titles include Draftsperson, Junior Designer and Computer Aided Design Technician.
