HIS 101 History of Western Civilization I: GT-HI1
3 Credits
Explores a number of events, peoples, groups, ideas, institutions, and trends that shaped Western Civilization from the prehistoric era to 1650. Reflects the multiple perspectives of gender, class, religion, and ethnic groups. Focuses on developing, practicing, and strengthening the skills historians use while constructing knowledge in this discipline. This course is one of the Statewide Guaranteed Transfer courses. GT-HI1.

PREREQUISIES: ENG 090 and REA 090 with a grade of "C" or better, or ACCUPLACER score of Reading 80 and sentence skills of 95 or Department Chair approval.

Examines women's changing roles in America. History from the pre-colonial native population to the present. Emphasizes the nature of women's work and the participation of women in the family, political, religions, and cultural activities and the social reform movement.

Presents the story of the people, society, and cultures of Colorado from its earliest Native Americans, through the Spanish influx, the explorers, the fur traders and mountain men, the gold rush, railroad builders, the cattlemen and farmers, the silver boom, the tourists, and the modern state.

HIS 260 US Foreign Relations History

Provides an overview of the history of United States foreign relations from the colonial era to the present and includes the pertinent political, military, economic, diplomatic, social, religious, ideological and cultural topics. At various points, issues such as race, class, gender, immigration, expansion, and the environment will be covered.
