SPA 102 - CONVERSATIONAL SPANISH II

Prerequisite: Spanish 101 or instructor’s permission.

Course Objectives: The objectives of this course are to provide the students with the opportunity:

  • To identify, distinguish and reproduce the sounds of Spanish
  • To understand basic statements and answer simple questions in Spanish
  • To express simple ideas, needs and request in a basic conversation
  • To acquire a basic knowledge of Spanish grammar and syntax
  • To learn more about the culture of the Spanish speaking world

Student Performance Objectives: Upon completion of this class the student at the novice-high level should be able to:

  1. Comprehensibly reproduce the pronunciation and intonation of the language.
  2. Accurately apply vocabulary and learned phrases in simple oral expressions.
  3. Demonstrate knowledge of vocabulary and grammar in elementary interchanges.
  4. Employ comprehensible grammar in writing simple statements.
  5. Read and comprehend basic information.
  6. Demonstrate an awareness of appropriate cultural behaviors in everyday situations.
