CHI 102 – Conversational Chinese II – 3 credits

• Prerequisite: CHI 101 or instructor permission
• Required Materials: Integrated Chinese Level 1, Part 2 – Simplified characters characters – Textbook, Workbook/ Lab manual and Audio CDs.
• Student Competencies: Upon completion of this course, the student at the novice level of Conversational Chinese should be able to:
  1. Comprehensibly reproduce the pronunciation and intonation of the language
  2. Understand oral statements, instructions, and questions
  3. Accurately apply vocabulary and learned phrases in simple oral expressions
  4. Demonstrate knowledge of vocabulary and grammar in interchanges about everyday topics
  5. Employ comprehensible grammar in writing simple statements
  6. Read and comprehend simple information
  7. Demonstrate an awareness of appropriate cultural behaviors in everyday situations
