Dr. Cheyne Bamford is the Behavioral Sciences Department Chair and has taught at ACC for 18 years. He earned his B.A. in Psychology and Music at Grinnell College and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Psychology at Arizona State University. Dr. Bamford's professional interests include spatial perception, environmental aesthetics, cognitive mapping, sociobiology, and social psychology. He has two stepdaughters, ages 19 and 23, and a 7 year-old daughter. Dr. Bamford enjoys bicycling, skiing and playing the guitar. He teaches (campus-based and online):

Allison Hagood has taught at ACC since 2004. She earned a B.A. in Psychology at Harvard University and a M.A. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Colorado at Denver. Ms. Hagood's professional background and interests include the diagnosis and treatment of adult mental disorders (with a specialization in schizophrenia), cognitive psychology, life-span development, and neuroscience. She enjoys camping, hiking, and crafts, and plays several musical instruments. She teaches (campus-based and online):

Erica Henningsen

Erica Henningsen has taught at ACC for four years. She earned a BA in Psychology and Criminology and a Master of Arts in Education in Educational Psychology at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI). Prior to ACC, Ms.Henningsen worked as both a correctional officer and a social worker in the child welfare system in Iowa. Her professional interests include: personality assessment, child sexual abuse, depression, deviant subcultures, and academic advising. Ms. Henningsen enjoys scrapbooking, listening to Stevie Nicks, amusement and water parks, four-wheeling, camping, traveling, belly-dancing, and chips and salsa. She teaches:

  • General psychology courses (PSY 101 and PSY 102)
  • Human Growth and Development (PSY 235).
