FRE 235 – French Reading and Writing – 3 credits
- Prerequisite: French IV or instructor permission.
- Required Materials: Graded French Reader (I and II), by Camille Bauer (Houghton Mifflin).
- Student Competencies: Upon completion of this course the student should be able to:
- Apply grammatical knowledge of structures and parts of speech appropriately and meaningfully, orally and in writing.
- Respond to extended reading selections using formal vocabulary and expressions
- Apply a variety of reading strategies to comprehend texts
- Read and demonstrate comprehension of selected literary and non-fictional readings
- Demonstrate an awareness of appropriate cultural behaviors and values in the French and francophone cultures.
- Identify cultural artifacts in the target world.
