FRE 235 – French Reading and Writing – 3 credits

  • Prerequisite: French IV or instructor permission.
  • Required Materials: Graded French Reader (I and II), by Camille Bauer (Houghton Mifflin).
  • Student Competencies: Upon completion of this course the student  should be able to:
    1. Apply grammatical knowledge of structures and parts of speech appropriately and meaningfully, orally and in writing.
    2. Respond to extended reading selections using formal vocabulary and expressions
    3. Apply a variety of reading strategies to comprehend texts
    4. Read and demonstrate comprehension of selected literary and non-fictional readings
    5. Demonstrate an awareness of appropriate cultural behaviors and values in the French and francophone cultures.
    6. Identify cultural artifacts in the target world.
