Computer Information Systems (CIS)

Our programs prepare students for good paying, entry-level careers as computer professionals through several Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) Degree and Certificate programs. CIS also prepares students to transfer to four-year colleges through three Associate of Applied Science Programs: Computer Information Systems Transfer, Computer Networking Transfer and Computer Science Transfer. With input from our Advisory Board Committee and internship course, we are continually updating and enhancing these programs.

Computer Information Systems (CIS) Associate of Applied Science Degree

The (CIS) degree is a two-year, 60-semester-hour vocational degree in business computer usage, management, programming and operations. Emphasis is on learning to use the computer as a tool in a business environment.

As a CIS graduate, you will have a solid foundation in business and information system skills. Job opportunities exist in entry-level business positions and in more specialized areas of junior programmer, computer operator, systems analyst trainee, computer salesperson, user support, documentation specialist or data librarian.

Computer Support Professional Associate of Applied Science Degree

Job Preparation This program will prepare you for positions in the computer support field. You will have a background in computer hardware, software and operating systems. You will also gain theoretical and hands-on experience with computer hardware, applications and networking technologies that are primarily vendor neutral.

Upon completion of the program, you will be prepared to take the exams for A+‚ Network+ and Security+.

There are also many different Computer Information Systems certificates.
