HIS 101 Western Civilization I
3 Credits
Explores a number of events, peoples, groups, ideas, institutions, and trends that shaped Western Civilization from the prehistoric era to 1650. Reflects the multiple perspectives of gender, class, religion, and ethnic groups. Focuses on developing, practicing, and strengthening the skills historians use while constructing knowledge in this discipline. This course is one of the Statewide Guaranteed Transfer courses. Presents the story of the people, society, and cultures of Colorado from its earliest Native Americans, through the Spanish influx, the explorers, the fur traders and mountain men, the gold rush, railroad builders, the cattlemen and farmers, the silver boom, the tourists, and the modern state.
HIS 247 Contemporary World History
3 Credits
Investigates the major political, social, and economic developments, international relationships, scientific breakthroughs, and cultural trends that have shaped the various global regions and nation-states from 1900 to the present. Emphasizes the interactions of global regions and nation-states.

HIS 260 History of United States Foreign Relations
3 Credits
This course provides an overview of the history of the United States foreign relations from the colonial era to the present and will include the pertinent political, military, economic, diplomatic, social, religious, ideological and cultural topics. At various points, issues such as race, class, gender, immigration, expansion and the environment will be covered. This course also focuses on developing, practicing and strengthening the skills historians use while conducting knowledge in the discipline.
